Born in Benin, four-time Grammy nominated singer Angélique Kidjo’s music draws on the rich musical heritage of the area, fusing Afropop, Caribbean zouk and Congolese rumba. Having started out as a back-up singer, she went on to record 11 internationally acclaimed albums, and her latest, Djin Djin, features appearances from Alicia Keys, Joss Stone and Carlos Santana.
Née au Bénin, nominée à quatre reprises aux Grammy, la chanteuse Angélique Kidjo tire sa musique du riche héritage de la région, fusionnant l’Afropop, le zouk caribéen et la rumba congolaise. Après avoir démarré sa carrière comme chanteuse d’arrière-scène, elle a réalisé sa voie en enregistrant 11 albums, tous acclamés au niveau international. Son dernier en date, Djin Djin, met en évidence des caractéristiques d’Alicia Keys, de Joss Stone et de Carlos Santana.

Formed in 1996, Linkin Park were early frontrunners in what has become a modern phenomenon –the unsigned band garnering a dedicated internet following. Despite being rejected by every label they approached, and on one occasion told “We wouldn’t sign you guys for a million dollars”, the band’s fan base spread worldwide, and they eventually won a contract with Warner Brothers. Their debut Hybrid Theory, a radio-friendly rendering of the angsty nu-metal genre, went on to sell 14 million copies, making it the best-selling album of 2001. Since then, they’ve won two Grammys, sold 40 million records and collaborated with everyone from Jay-Z to Depeche Mode. Their third album, Minutes to Midnight, which charts a move away from their nu-metal roots, was released this May.
