All eyes are on Angola as it prepares to host the African Cup of Nations 2010 Preparations are well under way for next year’s 27th biennial African Cup of Nations, to be hosted for the first time by Angola. The draw for the tournament takes place on 20 November and the tournament is due to kick off on 10 January. Angola will be looking to make up for missing out on a World Cup place, after making the Quarter Finals in the 2008 Cup of Nations, their best result to date. The country has invested €680m to build four new stadiums, the largest of which will be a 40,000 capacity venue in Luanda. The three smaller arenas are in Benguela, Cabinda and Lubango. As well as Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Algeria have so far qualified for the championship, and will all be looking to break Egypt’s stranglehold on the title, which they won for a record-breaking sixth time in 2008.LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Les préparatifs vont bon train en vue de la 27ème Coupe d’Afrique des Nations, disputée tous les deux ans et organisée pour la première fois par l’Angola. Le tirage au sort aura lieu le 20 novembre et le coup d’envoi sera donné le 10 janvier prochain.
L’Angola tentera de faire oublier son échec lors des qualifications pour la Coupe du Monde. Son meilleur parcours dans la Coupe des Nations reste un quart de finales en 2008, au Ghana. Le pays a investi
680m € dans la construction de quatre nouveaux stades, dont le plus grand, à Luanda, aura la capacité d’accueillir 40 000 spectateurs. À cela viennent s’ajouter trois stades plus petits à Benguela, Cabinda et Lubango.
