EAT OUT
Formerly known as Le Galion, L’Océane (Rotoma) is the ideal venue for a taste of the local seafood. For a more gourmet experience, Cote Mer (Kaloum) is the flagship restaurant of the capital’s most cosmopolitan hotel. Try the chef’s signature crevettes with a chilled bottle of white from the restaurant’s comprehensive wine list.

DRINK UP
From your perch on the terrace at Petit Bateau (Kaloum) sitt out and watch the boats returning as the sun sets over the harbour. Another popular waterfront bar is Rotoma (at the Mariador Palace hotel) – its seaside garden is an ideal spot to while away the evening with a refreshing local beer or two.

BEST WATERSIDE SPOT
A short taxi ride will take you to the fishermen’s harbour at Landreah. Take a stroll along the water to experience the colourful parade of dug-out fishing boats returning with a bewildering variety of fish netted off the coast. For a longer day trip, head off beyond the tip of the Kaloum Peninsula to the Iles de Loos. Spend your day swimming, learning Guinean drumming or relaxing with a spot of fishing. Day charters can be arranged through your hotel, For a longer stay, contact the hotel Le Sogué on the quiet Ile de Roume.
