PROFILE

Crosby, Stills & Nash Rock Classics

Originally a trio Crosby, Stills & Nash released their first eponymous album of folk rock in 1969 to immediate critical acclaim and commercial success. Later that year they recruited Neil Young, and accordingly changed their name, in the manner of a law firm, to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Immediately embarking on their first tour, their second gig was at Woodstock. Their 1970 album Déjà Vu was received with huge enthusiasm, but the same year the band spilt, largely due to constant fighting. Several uneasy armistices later, they reformed, and have gone on to release eight studio and three live albums. They’re regarded as hugely influential political artists, and still tour together today.

PROFILE

Carole King
Radio Waves

Despite periodically performing herself, most notably during the early 70s with the advent of her hugely successful solo album Tapestry, Carole King is better known for her song writing. Born in Brooklyn in 1942, Carole went to college with Neil Sedaka (she inspired his first hit ‘Oh! Carol’) and Gerry Goffin. She went on to both marry and form a fruitful creative partnership with Goffin – throughout the ‘60s they churned out era-defining songs like ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘The Loco-Motion’, ‘He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)’, ‘I’m Into Something Good’ and ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’. She went on to win four Grammy awards and both she and Goffin have been inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.

Elle épouse et forme en même temps une équipe hautement créative avec Goffin – durant les années 60 ils produisent des morceaux qui sont restés emblématiques de cette époque comme ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, ‘The Loco- Motion’, ‘He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)’, ‘I’m Into Something Good’ et ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’.
