HOLY LAND ON THE MAP FOR EASTER
At any time of the year Israel is a great tourist destination, offering the gamut of holiday experiences from downtown beach chic at Haifa’s beachfront strip to rest and relaxation at one of the Dead Sea resorts. But at Easter-time there’s one city everybody should visit in the Holy Land, and that is Jerusalem.
Situated high in the Judean Hills, Jerusalem is one of the most extraordinary cities in the world, presenting a unique combination of ancient history, spiritual sanctity and a wide mix of cultures. Established 3000 years ago by King David, Jerusalem is a fascinating city of many contrasts and diversities – a city where old and new, holy and secular, natural and archaeological mix into a magical harmony of sound, sights and smells.
Sacred to the world’s three main religions, Jerusalem invariably leaves visitors touched and inspired by the shining glow of its rich history, both religious and secular, as well as its picturesque scenery.
Outside of its key historical context, Jerusalem is home to the Israeli parliament (Knesset) and the country’s government offices. A visit to the City of Gold is indeed an unforgettable experience.
